Shelby Sanders joined the Word of Mouth team in 2021. After growing up in Murray, Kentucky, she recently married her husband, Spencer, and moved to Spring Hill. Shelby received her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Murray State University and her Bachelor of Health Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Kentucky in 2018. Shelby is licensed as a speech-language pathologist with the Tennessee Board of Communication Disorders and Science.
In her career as a speech-language pathologist, Shelby has worked with pediatrics in both the private practice and school settings. She has provided intervention for a variety of communication disorders including early (0-3 years) language delay, school-aged articulation and language disorders, selective mutism, autism spectrum disorder, phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency disorder, and dyslexia. She has extensive experience evaluating children aged 2 years to middle school age in the areas of articulation, language, dyslexia, and fluency. Shelby shares, "It is my absolute joy to work with children and their families making learning and communicating fun!" One of Shelby's families told our clinical director, "We are forever grateful for all Shelby has done for our daughter. She has come so far and now loves to talk and is so happy all the time."
Outside of her time at Word of Mouth, Shelby enjoys interning at her church. She and her husband take annual skiing and snowboarding trips out west, and enjoy spending as much time as possible with their friends, family and two dogs, Millie and Ruby.
